Whats up! I'm Dean 👋🏻

I'm the co-founder and CTO of Owner.com, a company that helps independent restaurant owners succeed online. Today, Owner.com is valued at over $1B and has grown to more than 350 teammates.

Before Owner.com I founded Marble, a startup that automated cashiering for restaurants. We went through YC in 2019, raised a few million dollars, and served brands like Blaze Pizza, Fatburger, and Nekter Juice Bar.

Unfortunately Covid wasn't nice to Marble. Kiosks aren't exactly top of mind for restaurant operators when in-store dining is illegal.

Fortunately, it's what led me to start Owner.com with one of my best friends and cofounder Adam Guild. The same force that destroyed Marble became the catalyst for Owner.

Before startups, my entire life revolved around soccer. My parents joke that I was born with a ball at my feet. Becoming a professional player was all I cared about growing up.

That dream didn't play out the way I imagined, but it's what shaped the path i'm on today. I played Division I soccer at Brown University before dropping out to start Marble — a decision that set everything else in motion.

My path has looked nothing like what I pictured as a kid. The biggest thing I've learned is to let go and trust where life is taking me. I've found that when I stop trying to force outcomes and instead show up ready to serve whatever the moment asks of me, things tend to unfold in ways my mind could never have planned. It's a beautiful thing.

I think Rumi said it best: "Walk on the way, and the way appears."
